Abstract

989,612. Wrapping machines. J. MORGAN, [trading as MORGAN & CO.]. July 19, 1961 [April 22, 1960], No. 14120/60. Heading B8C. A machine for grouping cans 4 together and securing them within a sleeve 16 comprises two conveyer belts 3, 8, travelling in opposite directions, one above the other, a dividing head 5, for forming the groups and a station for placing, folding and sealing the wrapper around the group, the packages leaving the machine at the can infeed end. The cans 4 are placed on the belt 3 in one or two longitudinal rows and are grouped by the dividing heads, which may comprise a disc 5 with pockets around the perimeter. A group is then moved on to an elevator platform 7 by a pusher, and a blank from a magazine 9, after passing between gluing rollers 10, is placed over the group as it moves upwards into alignment with the belt 8. The blank is folded and sealed around the group which is then moved on to the belt 8 and finally discharged down a shoot.
