Abstract

1,038,858. Packaging-machines; discharging from shoots; feeding endless conveyers. A. SCHMERMUND. May 31, 1965 [June 11, 1964], No. 23165/65. Headings B8A, B8C and B8S. The device described with reference to Figs. 1 and 2 of Specification 881,068 is modified in that the containers, instead of being mounted on a single transversely reciprocating member, are carried by two such members moving independently, so that one container may dwell at a charging position while the other is first discharged and then commences to be charged. The containers are in two pairs 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, each pair being carried on a separate transverse reciprocating member 41, 42. While one pair 3 is in alignment with hopper openings LL, RL, the other pair 3<SP>1</SP> is in alignment with discharge paths I, II where flights 11 on conveyers push the batch out of the containers to the packaging or other apparatus (not shown). When the containers 3<SP>1</SP> are empty, they are aligned with the hopper openings LR, RR and the feeding into them of batches of cigarettes commences while feeding of batches also continues into the containers 3. When the containers 3 are filled they are aligned with the discharge conveyers and emptied while filling of the containers 3<SP>1</SP> is completed. The containers 3<SP>1</SP> then move back to the discharge position and the containers 3 again take up their positions opposite the discharge openings LL and RL.
