881,068. Feeding cigarettes; conveyers. SCHMERMUND, A., [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK A. SCHMERMUND]. Feb. 24, 1960 [Feb. 28, 1959], No. 6494/60. Class 78 (1). Cigarettes in hopper 30 fall into discharge shoots 31a, 31b and predetermined batches of cigarettes are discharged alternately by oppositely working slides 53 into compartments 33 of endless conveyer 34. The conveyer proceeds step-by-step, each compartment thereof being filled by one or other slide and being discharged by respective pushers 37 of a single endless conveyer 38, the pushers pushing the batches of cigarettes for the packing thereof. The slides are operated by rod 64 via levers 63, 56 and the conveyer is operated via gear 50. The endless conveyer may be replaced by a reciprocating conveyer or by a rotary conveyer.
