Abstract

1532421 Transferring containers between conveyers MOLINS Ltd 30 Jan 1976 [31 Jan 1975] 4231/75 Headings B8A and B8C A series of trolleys 2 (only one shown) each containing trays 6 is moved past a filling unit 4 to enable the trays 6 to be filled with cigarettes, each tray being removed in turn by a feed carrier 8 from its trolley 2, elevated to a position 6b and moved through a position 6c to a tray loading position 6d at which a batch 16 of cigarettes is transferred by a reciprocable plunger 18 from a conveyer 10 into the tray, the latter being moved downwardly in a stepwise manner to enable successive cigarette batches 16 to be loaded into the tray while the following tray is temporarily stopped at the position 6c. When the tray is filled it is returned to its trolley 2. The apparatus may alternatively be used to empty full trays of cigarettes, in which case the plunger 18 may be provided with suction means for withdrawing successive batches of cigarettes from a tray and depositing them on the conveyer 10.
