1305422 Conveyers; shoots HAUNTWERKE KORBER & CO KG 4 March 1970 [4 March 1969] 10438/70 Headings B8A and B8S A magazine 1 of a cigarette machine (not shown) is fed by a carrier 19 which reciprocates horizontally between positions A, B, the carrier being adapted to receive trays 75 which are fed by conveyer belts 76, 77 on to a vertically movable platform 78. After cigarettes are transferred into the carrier 19, the empty tray is discharged on to conveyer belts 79, 81 by a pusher 88. Carrier 19 is movable along rods 17, 18 by nut and screw means 68, 69 and has a base 46 slidable in grooves 48, 49. Projections 47 on the base are so dimensioned as to be slidable in grooves 119 formed in the base of tray 75. Depending guides 24, 25 are movable transversely of the carrier and may be received within grooves 118 of the side walls of the tray 75. The platform 78 is operated by nut and screw means 102, 103, 104, 105. In operation, as soon as the level of cigarettes in the magazine 1 falls below a light control 7, the carrier 19, already filled with cigarettes from a preceding cycle, is moved to position B, and the base 46 automatically retracted by a spring 57 to the position shown in the Figure, so that the cigarettes are released into the magazine. After the guides 24, 25 have been moved outwardly, the carrier 19 is returned to position A, and the guides again restored to their inner position. A full tray having been fed on to the platform 78, the latter is raised and the tray is received in the carrier, with the guides 24, 25 moving into the grooves 118 of the tray. A pneumatic cylinder 51 then moves the carrier base 46 towards the magazine and, with the cigarettes in the tray now resting on the base projections 47, the base is secured by latch means 63, 64. The tray, now empty, is lowered by the platform until level with the conveyer belts 79, 81 whereupon the pusher 88 transfers the tray on to the conveyer belts. The platform then completes its downward travel ready to receive a further filled tray. An electro-pneumatic control system is described and illustrated, Fig. 2 (not shown).
