971,392. Grenade-throwing firearms. FABBRICA D'ARMI P. BERETTA S.p.A. Sept. 19, 1962 [Sept. 29, 1961], No. 35740/62. Heading F3C. In a gas-operated firearm, e.g. a U.S. 0.30 cal. M1 Garand rifle, which is provided with a barrel extension 6 for firing grenades, a rotatable pin 3 is located between the gas part 2 in the barrel 1 and the gas intake cylinder 5, the pin being provided with a diametral passage 2 which, in the vertical position shown, permits passage of gas for operation of the action for normal use of the rifle and which when turned to the horizontal position intercepts the passage of gas which is thus all directed to the grenade when the rifle is used therewith. A grenade sight 7 is also mounted on the pin 3 so that rotation of the pin 3 to interrupt the passage of gas to the cylinder 5 also raises the sight 7 from a horizontal out-of-use position to a vertical operative position.
