Abstract
898,719. Grenade launchers; sights. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES S.A. Sept. 18, 1959 [Oct. 3, 1958], No. 31914/59. Class 119. A portable firearm with a butt 7 is provided with a grenade throwing device having an aiming sight in the form of a graduated scale 8 which when in its operative position extends parallel to and at the same side as a radial half-plane of the barrel 1 which makes a substantial angle with the upper radial half-plane Po of the barrel, means being provided to locate and fix this position of the sight relative to the barrel. The upper radial half plane Po is that which includes the axis of the barrel and the longitudinal axis plane of the foresight 14. Positions of the sight preferred in the claims are in radial half planes at 90 degrees and at 180 degrees to Po. The aiming device has a barrel extension sleeve 6 bolted on to the barrel 1 and which carries the scale 8 pivoted at 9 on a block 10 which is rotatable in a groove around the sleeve. The block 10 can move axially against a spring 11 which at will locates it by lugs 12 in one of four notches (Fig. 5 not shown) equispaced around the rear face of the recess in the sleeve in which it turns. The grenade 7 is aimed by aligning a point on its maximum diameter with the appropriate graduation on the scale (Figs. 2a, b, c not shown).
