Abstract

Polyacrylic acid is obtained by polymerizing acrylic acid which contains as stabilizing agent hydroquinone or p-tolu hydroquinone using fluo para cresol as a catalyst. The monomer is preferably an aqueous solution, the polymerization taking place at a temperature not greater than 100 DEG C. and at catalyst concentration of not more than 5% w/v.
