Abstract

970,842. Spinnerets. MONSANTO CO. June 24, 1963 [June 25, 1962], No. 24991/63. Heading B5B. A spinneret 16 of laminated construction, suitable for making conjugate filaments, comprises manifolds 30, 40 supplied with spinning solutions or compositions from sources 31, 41, sheets 13 having holes 26, 36 and slots 20, and plates 11 and 12, having holes 35, 25, respectively, and L-shaped slots 24, 34, respectively, which overlap the slots 20 of the sheets 13 when the assembly is stacked as shown in the order 11-13-12-13-11-13-12 to form the spinneret 16. A spinning solution or composition from manifold 40 passes through holes 35 and 36 to the slots 34 in the plates 12 and thence into the slots 20 where it joins a second spinning solution or composition supplied from manifold 30 and passing through holes 25, 26 to the slots 24 in the plates 11 and hence to the slots 20, the two compositions emerging therefrom as conjugate filaments.
