970,653. Joint-making packing. HALBERGERHUTTE G.m.b.H. July 18, 1961 [Aug. 2, 1960], No. 26040/61. Heading F2B. A packing for sealing a socket joint between pipes conveying corrosive gases in which aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons may be present consists of a rubber ring 1 and an annular cap 3 of polyamide fitted to the portion 2 of the ring 1 which is to be exposed to the action of the gas. The portion 2 forms a tapered face on the ring. The cap 3 is secured to the portion 2 by its own elasticity or by heating, tacking, riveting or by an adhesive.
