Abstract
969,821. Storing liquefied gases. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Aug. 13, 1963 [Aug. 31, 1962], No. 33608/62. Heading F4P. One or more radiation shields 5, 6, Fig. 1, of polished copper or aluminium foil are suspended from the neck 2 of a liquefied gas container 1 and in the vacuum space 4 between the container 1 and an outer container 3 and are restrained against displacement by spiders 9 of material having low thermal conductivity, e.g. steel, nylon, titanium or polyethylene terepthalate whereby the shields are held spaced from each other and from the two containers. Each spider 9 comprises threads 10, Fig. 3, looped round indentations 14 of a ring 13 soldered to the bottom wall of a shield or to the interior of the bottom of container 3 and round a cup 12 in which is seated a stud 11 projecting from the underside of container 1 or shields 5, 6. The evacuated space 4 may be charged with powder.
