Abstract

967,056. Blanks transferring. SMERALOVY ZAVODY, NARODNI PODNIK. July 25, 1963 [July 25, 1962], No. 29433/63. Heading B3H. Mechanism for transferring workpieces between work stations such as dies 18 in a multistage press comprises a longitudinally movable rod 4 supported in bearings 5 and having mounted thereon a sleeve 12 connected to workpiece gripping means 16, 17 which are rotatable with the sleeve about the axis of the rod 4. The latter is reciprocated by a lever 1 driven by a cam and the sleeve 12 is rotatable on the rod but axially located by collars 13. Sleeve 12 carries a rack 11 which thus reciprocates with the rod 4 and is supported in a body 7 mounted by sleeves 6 on the rod but secured to the press frame 2 by screws 8. Body 7 carries a pair of crank shafts 9 with pinions 10 meshing with the rack 11 and whose crank pins 14 mount a plate 15 carrying the gripping fingers 16, 17. Upon releasing the screws 8, the mechanism may be swung into an inoperative position about the axis of rod 4 without disturbing the drive. If rectilinear motion only of the fingers is required, the sleeve 12 is connected directly to the plate 15.
