Abstract
966,427. Resilient joints. RIV OFFICINE DI VILLAR PEROSA S.p.A. July 2, 1962 [April 19, 1962], No. 25299/62. Heading F2S. In a resilient joint of the kind in which a sleeve 12, e.g. of rubber, is forced between two rigid metal bushings 10, 11 where it is radially compressed and axially elongated residual axialcomponent stresses in the sleeve, which tend to eject it from the bushings 10, 11 after it has been forced home into its final position therebetween, are eliminated by terminating the sleeve at one end at least by a radially-inwardly directed flange 14, Fig. 2. On inserting the inner bushing 11 into the body 12b of the sleeve in the direction of the arrow F the flange 14 is flared outwardly to form a collar 12a which abuts a flange 70a on the outer bushing 10. The internal diameter D5 of the flange 14 should generally be less than the axial length S.
