965,926. Plastics valve bags; closing filled bags. BRITISH VISQUEEN Ltd. Sept. 10, 1962 [Sept. 26, 1961], No. 34433/61. Headings B8 and B8K. A sleeve 5 is seamed at 6, 6<SP>1</SP> to the walls of a plastics bag tube 1 so that when the sleeve has been tucked in (after filling) the bag walls may be seamed together at 9 beyond the in-tucked sleeve. The seams 6, 6<SP>1</SP> extend to 7, 8 to weld the bag walls together adjacent to the sleeve which is introduced either through a slit 4 in the side bag wall (as shown) or in an upper seam, preferably at a corner, or through a out-off corner. Alternatively the sleeve may fill the whole mouth of the bag. The sleeve is preferably of thinner material than the bag. All the seams are heat seams, a strip of non-stick material being placed in the sleeve during welding to prevent its inner surfaces bonding together.
