Abstract

987,039. Packages. E. P. REMY ET CIE. May 22, 1963 [June 5, 1962], No. 20471/63. Heading B8C. Two hollow ears 17, Fig. 5, at the flat upper end of a liquid-filled pliable container communicate with the interior of the container, and serve for carrying or, when torn, as spouts. The container may be filled while resting in a sleeve 9, Fig. 2, and the upper end is then closed by a weld 10. The container is then inverted over a shaping block 15, as shown in Fig. 4, and the sleeve 9 is slid downwardly to shape the upper end. Alternatively the sleeve 9 may be telescopic in form so that it may be extended to cover the whole length of the container while this is pressed upwardly against a block similar to the shaping block 15. The block may be narrower or wider than the container; when it is wider the ears 17 lie in the same plane as the upper face of the container. The container may be formed from a sheet of kraft paper coated both sides with polyethylene and may include a fin seam 7 on one side.
