Abstract

965,897. Reactors. GROUPEMENT ATOMIQUE ALSACIENNE ATLANTIQUE. July 25, 1963 [July 25, 1962], No. 29527/63. Heading G6C. [Also in Division H2] In a nuclear reactor in which a metal sheathed cable 1 from a thermocouple is connected by means of a concentric plug and socket coupling 5, 6 at the top of a channel 3 to a lead 2 mounted in a cap 4; the lower half of the coupling 5 is surrounded by a mass 7 of thermo-setting resin which secures the coupling 5 to a cylindrical steel base 8 to which the sheath of the cable 1 is soldered at 13. The base 8 is in turn clamped to the top of the channel 3 by a nut 12. The upper half of the coupling 6 may be similarly mounted, but is preferably embedded in a mass 14 of synthetic resin which is held loosely within a cavity 15 by a ring 16. The lead 2 is sealed where it passes through the cap 4 by a glass bead 17 and a metal tube with a collar 18 which is gripped between packing washers 19, 19a, by a screwed cap 23.
