Abstract
1,002,625. Reactors. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Dec. 18, 1963 [Dec. 18, 1962], No. 49991/63. Heading G6C. An arrangement for providing an electrically conducting path between a thermocouple 21 on a fuel element 4 disposed in a channel 2 in the reactor 1 and contacts 22 outside the reactor connected to a temperature indicator 6, comprises supporting each of the fuel elements in a jacket 3, each jacket having two bores 8 receiving conducting rods 7. The rods 7 are slidable in the cores and may be surrounded by ceramic beads 12 and are biased either by their weight or, as shown, by a spring 9 acting on a collar 10 so that the lower end 7 1 of each rod extends below the bottom of the jacket 3 and the upper end 7 2 is below the top of the jacket. The jackets are inserted in the channel 2 so that the rods 7 are in alignment whereby the abutment between the ends of the rods forms a conducting path, the upper rods being connected by wires to the contacts 22 and the lower rods being connected by wires to the thermocouple 21. In two modifications (Figs. 5, 6, not shown) the bores 8 are replaced by grooves opening into the external surface of the jackets 3.
