Abstract

965,744. Ventilators. WOODS OF COLCHESTER Ltd. July 27, 1960 [July 28, 1959], No. 25917/59. Heading F4V. [Also in Division F1] A ventilator fan assembly for mounting in an aperture in a window &c. 19 comprises a duct 23, 26 containing a fan 29 driven by a motor 11 the air supply being controlled by an iris diaphragm 31 which closes on to the motor 11. The pins on the blades of the iris diaphragm are formed in the blades as integral closed-ended hollow projections. As shown, the duct parts 23, 26 are connected by bolts 21 but they may be formed with mating screw threads. The rotatable ring 33 of the diaphragm may be actuated by a reversible electric motor which may be remote-controlled or by a cord connected to its lower part. Movement of this ring to open position can actuate a switch to start the fan motor or two switches in succession one to switch the fan motor to a slow speed and the other to full speed. The fan motor may be reversible and remote-controlled. The diaphragm may be justified in open position by a spring detent. Specification 965,745 is referred to.
