Abstract

584,171. Electric fans. BOWATER, A. V. Dec. 12, 1944, No. 24920. [Class 110 (i)] A ventilating fan mounted in a casing 1 fixed in an aperture in a window 2 is, with its electric motor, so proportioned that it can be turned through at least 180‹ about a transverse axis BB. In the form shown, the overall length of the motor-fan unit is kept within the limits imposed by the casing by mounting the blades 10 on a cup-shaped member 11 fixed to the motor shaft which brings the blades to a central position with regard to the motor. In another form, the casing of the electro-motor rotates and the fan blades are secured to the middle portion of the motor casing. An arm is attached to the boss 16 by which the fan can be turned round and it is held in one or other position by a ball snap.
