Abstract

Class 39(3) An electric room-warming apparatus simulating a solid fuel fire comprises a body part a having an open front in the form of a grille c and a translucent top d on which the imitation solid fuel e is formed or supported, one or more heating elements f, a rotary fan g, a lamp r or lamps, a rotary flickering device q and an electric motor h for rotating the fan g. A pulley k mounted on the spindle i of the motor h drives a larger pulley n provided with a roller o which is in frictional engagement with a rim p of the flickering device q. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the fan g is mounted between the elements f and the grille c, and a flickering device is driven by a hot air current from the lamp r. A switch or switches may be provided for connecting the elements f in series or in parallel and the motor speed may be controlled by a variable resistance. Overheating of the elements f may be prevented by a thermal cutout. The part s may serve as, or have secured to it, a mirror.
