A housing 6 for an assembly of thermal switches having blades of thermally sensitive strip is formed with a chamber 9 which is parallel to the axis of the housing, the switches 18, 19 being mounted in and parallel to the axis of the chamber. Air cavities 10, 11 are formed on either side of the chamber 9. The housing may be mounted on the head of an immersion heater.
