895,491. Anaesthetic apparatus. HOPE, W. Oct. 14, 1960 [Oct. 14, 1959], No. 34831/59. Class 81 (2). Anaesthetic or like apparatus having gas in a storage cylinder, has a thermostatically-controlled electrical heater mounted on or in connection with a duct through which the gas passes as it flows from the cylinder to the control valve. In the form described, the cylinder 16, which may contain nitrous oxide, is supported from a mounting 13 so as to feed gas through a duct 25 to a control-valve 26, whence it flows to the face mask 38. The duct 22 passes through, and is in intimate contact with, a metal block 23 which houses a heating element 24 controlled by a thermostat 45. The temperature of the duct, and thus of the gas, may consequently be maintained at a sufficiently high temperature to ensure that the gas does not freeze on escaping from the control valve.
