Abstract

964,327. Rotary internal combustion engines. F. J. HOGGUER. Oct. 6, 1960 [Oct. 13, 1959], No. 34310/60. Addition to 929,940. Heading F1F. A rotary I.C. engine comprises a rotary piston 9, Fig. 3, eccentrically arranged on a shaft 6, a portion 10, Fig. 1, of the piston is concentric with the shaft, Fig. 1, which permanently bears against the inner side of the housing 1 and a portion 11 is eccentric thereto. The cylindrical housing has four cylindrical guide means 4 spaced over its periphery in each of which a sleeve 5 is slidable axially. Each sleeve in a transverse direction comprises a bottom 7 extending over three quarters of its periphery and radially inwardly directed wings 7<SP>1</SP> and 7<SP>11</SP> provided with a pin 8 which engage the disc-shaped piston, helical compressor springs 12 ensure permanent contact between them. Laterally of each sleeve or compression chamber 15 is provided, formed by a casing 16 with a spark plug hole provided in the end wall 17. A radially extending blade 25 is located adjacent the piston portion 10, the combustion gases are directed against this causing the piston to rotate. After the gases have given their energy to the blade which is fixed with a pin 28, they leave through the axially bent branch 29 of the blade and the eccentric opening 30 in the side wall 23 of the piston and are discharged through the outlet 31.
