Abstract

963,489. Container closures. SPRA-LOK CORPORATION. Jan. 18, 1961 [Oct. 24, 1960], No. 2125/61. Heading B8T. A snap-on moulded plastic cap 12 for an aerosol container 11 comprises an inverted cup 24 and a split locking thimble 26 integral therewith and having its end adjacent the top of the cup closed by a non-detachable disc 34. The lower end of the cup frictionally fits within the rim 15 of the aerosol container and the lower end of the thimble has an inturned locking flange 31 which snaps under a shoulder 21 of the container. A slot 27 extending the length of the thimble is bounded by flanges 28, and in order to remove the cap a probe 37 is inserted through a slot 35 in the cup wall, normally closed by a puncturable seal, and spreads apart the flanges 28 enabling the disengagement of the flange 31. The disc 34 may be of metal or plastics material, and in the latter case it may be cemented in position.
