960,947. Space heating systems for caravans; supporting burners. W. F. MURRAY. May 30, 1963 [June 1, 1962], No. 21165/62. Headings F4T and F4U. A caravan heating system comprises a water boiler 10 sunk into the caravan floor 11, a gas or oil burner below the boiler, the boiler being connected by flow and return pipes 15 and 17 to a number of radiators (e.g. 16 and 18) within the caravan and by pipes 22 and 23 to a header or tank 21. The gas supplying the burner may be ignited by an electric resistance in a circuit which is closed and opened by a switch (not shown) within the caravan and the gas flow may be controlled by a thermostatic valve. A glazed port 26 in the floor allows the burner flame to be seen. The burner may be of ring form (13), suspended by springs 12 and spaced from the boiler by distance pieces 14. The radiators may comprise tubes bent in a zig-zag shape and extending through vertical plate fins. The radiators 16, 17 are connected in parallel in the system shown.
