Abstract

959,408. Liquid fuel burners. TECALEMIT Ltd. June 12, 1962 [June 23, 1961], No. 22857/61. Heading F4T. A liquid fuel burner comprises a tube 1 having a discharge orifice 3 at one end and a cylinder 6 at the other, the cylinder being provided with a plunger 6a carrying a needle valve 7 arranged to close the orifice 3 and having an extension 9 which projects through the orifice. The fuel pressure moves the plunger 6a against the action of a spring 13 to open the valve. Fuel is delivered in a pulsating manner to the tube 1 by a proportioning valve 18. A sleeve 14 adjustably threaded into a housing 10 which closes the cylinder 6 acts as a stop for the plunger 6a, and a rod 11 connected to the plunger passes through the sleeve 14 and has a knob 12 for manually reciprocating the plunger. In a modification a further tube surrounds the tube 1 and supplies air which may atomize the fuel. The outer surface of the end of the tube 1 and the inner surface of the end of the further tube are similarly tapered.
