Abstract
Anti-dust treatment of materials such as coal or coke comprises spraying the solid with an oil of viscosity not less than 100 DEG Engler at 50 DEG C. which is an extract from a petroleum distillation residue. The viscosity of the oil is preferably between 5 DEG and 10 DEG Engler at 100 DEG C. The oil may be applied as an aqueous emulsion in which the oil concentration is from 10 to 30%, and the emulsion may be applied to the solid at a concentration of 8 to 12 litres/ton. Stearic acid and triethanolamine may be used as ionic emulsifiers.ALSO:An aqueous emulsion for the anti-dust treatment of coal or coke comprises an oil of viscosity not less than 100 DEG Engler at 50 DEG C. which is an extract from a petroleum distillation residue. Preferably the concentration of the oil in the emulsion is from 10-30% and the viscosity of the oil is between 5 DEG and 10 DEG Engler at 100 DEG C. Emulsifiers, e.g. stearic acid and ethanolamine, may be used.
