Abstract

957,032. Two-part couplings. BELLING & LEE Ltd. Jan. 25, 1963, No. 3159/63. Heading H2E. An electrical shorting link comprises two electrical contact elements, arranged side by side in spaced relationship, each comprising an inner contact element and outer sleeve coaxial therewith, an electrical conductor linking the two inner contact elements, said contact elements and conductors being supported by at least one insulating plate in a conduit formed in a housing of electrical conducting material so that the electrical conducting housing simulates the electrical characteristics of the outer screening conductor of coaxial cable. As shown, a U-shaped length of brass 1 constitutes the inner conductor, of a coaxial type shorting link, which is supported symmetrically within a U-shaped groove 4 in an aluminium alloy casting 5 by means of polypropylene discs 6, 7, 8, 9 which are placed in transverse recesses 16, 17, 18, 19. Recesses 16 and 19 also accommodate flanges 20, 21 of the metal sleeves 13, 14. To complete the assembly, complementary casting 22 is secured to casting 5 by a rivet 27, and aperture 23 and spigot 24 in casting 5 mate with a complementary spigot and aperture in casting 22 to facilitate correct location.
