Abstract

1,125,611. Two-part couplings. MARBOURN Ltd. 13 April, 1966 [13 Jan., 1965], No. 1539/66. Heading H2E. A multiway adaptor has the current-carrying socket contacts (i.e. live and neutral) mounted on an insulating plate removably secured in the adaptor body. In the 13 amp three-way adaptor shown, the live and neutral contacts 52, 53 for opposite socket outlets are of bent metal strip attached to the plate 51 and to corresponding contacts 71, 70 of a third outlet by rivets. The neutral contacts 53, 70 are connected to the neutral pin 9 by a screw 63 which passes through a pillar formed on the plate so as to secure the plate 51 in the body. A cartridge fuse 26 may be connected between the live pin and contacts 52, 71 by engaging clips 75 and (30), (Fig. 4, not shown) on the contacts and pin (8) respectively. If no fuse is required, the live contacts may be connected to the live pin by a screw in the same manner as the neutral contacts. The earth contacts are formed from a metal T-piece and are attached directly to the earth pin, each pin being moulded in the body. Earth-pin operated shutters 37 may be provided, the upper end of biasing springs 38 seating on studs in the cover 2.
