[Also in Division B7] Connection between the hydraulic brake systems of a tractor and trailer is made by the operative engagement of a piston 5 in a slave cylinder 1 included in the tractor braking system with a piston 16 in a master cylinder 14 included in the trailer braking system. As shown, the slave cylinder 1 is formed in the lower part of a ball B secured to the tractor and releasably received in a socket S secured to the trailer and on which the master cylinder 14 is mounted. Push-rods 8, 21 disposed in the ball-and-socket respectively operatively connect the pistons 5, 16 when the tractor and trailer are coupled.
