956,354. Transformers. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 13 1960 [Sept. 18, 1959], No. 31926/59. Heading H1T. [Also in Division H2] An auto-transformer winding arrangement has a main winding portion 1 and a tapped winding portion 2 arranged for (reversible) connection to portion 1, the tapping contact being connected to earth, or to a star point, and an additional winding 8 being connected in series with a winding 6 inductively coupled to an auxiliary winding 4 which is connected across that portion of tapped winding 2 which is in circuit. A synchronous condenser or a local supply circuit may be connected across terminals AT1, AT2. In a polyphase arrangement the selector and diverter switches for several phases of the auto-transformer may be accommodated in the same container.
