Abstract

1,268,401. Electrical distribution networks. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 7 Aug., 1969 [30 May, 1968], No. 26015/68. Heading H2H. [Also in Division H1] A ring main distribution arrangement includes a plurality of units each supplying a load circuit and comprising three vacuum switches for each phase and a transformer, the windings of the transformer and the switches being immersed in an insulating coolant liquid. As shown in Fig. 1, the ring main is fed by a three-phase transformer 4 through circuit breakers 5, 6, and each unit 7 includes vacuum switches 17, 19 in the main circuit. A third switch 11 is connected between the junction of the switches 17, 19 and an output transformer 10 which supplies a load circuit. Each switch 11, 17, 19 has an associated earthing switch 12, 13, 14 which may be operated under fault conditions. The vacuum switches 11, 17, 19, which may be pneumatically operated, are situated, in an oil-filled transformer tank, Figs. 2-4 (not shown).
