Abstract

955,046. Bearings; washers; bolting. SULZER FRERES S.A. April 27, 1962 [May 2, 1961], No. 16226/62. Headings F2A and F2H. In an internal-combustion engine having cylinders arranged in the form of a V, a main bearing - cap fastening arrangement comprises projections on the opposed faces of the bearing-cap 3 and the crankcase 1 arranged substantially concentrically around fastening screws 4 and having inclined surfaces, and a thrust ring 5 between the bearing-cap 3 and the crankcase 1 having grooves therein with inclined surfaces co-operating with the corresponding projections on the crankcase 1 and the bearing-cap 3. The grooves may be defined by conical surfaces 6, 7 or by circular ares for example. There may be one or more grooves (Fig. 3) on each side of the ring 5. There may be no grooves in opposite sides of the ring 5 with the same diameters, a projection on the part 1 or 3 being then between two projections on the part 3 or 1. In some cases the axes of the grooves in opposite sides of the ring 5 are slightly staggered with respect to one another.
