Abstract
954,799. Control systems for glow discharge apparatus. ELEKTROPHYSIKALISCHE ANSTALT BERNHARD BERGHAUS. Aug. 16, 1960 [Aug. 17, 1959], No. 28334/60. Heading H2H. A control system for a glow-discharge vessel cuts off the supply to the vessel by blocking rectifying valves 15a-15c as soon as an abnormal voltage or current as detected by a device 28 indicates that an arc is about to be formed. The device 28 is responsive to transients of shorter time constant than the supply. The system is stated to operate in a time shorter than that required by the arc to form. The discharge current is adjusted by saturable reactors 23a-23c and a regulating transformer 7 controlled from a programme device 29. Specifications 804,916, 805,164 and 824,947 are referred to.
