Abstract
D.C. current regulator for voltage impulse control of an inductive load, has a principal control thyristor between the load and the D.C. supply as well as means of extinction connected in parallel with the principal thyristor having an extinction capacitor with at least a controlled extinction thyristor. The regulator has a blocking diode for dealing with the extra rupturing current of the load. This diode is replaced by a controlled thyristor which fires when the voltage (Uc) at the terminals of the extinction capacitor (7) passes a predetermined step value (Uc) which is greater than the D.C. supply voltage (2) but less than the avalanche voltage of the principal thyristor (3).
