Abstract

950,979. Double glazed windows; window frames. AUSTER Ltd., and W. W. SMALL. Oct. 22, 1962 [Nov. 18, 1961], No. 41354/61. Headings E1J and E1R. In a double-glazed window the two panes 7, 7<SP>1</SP> are mounted in channels 8, 8<SP>1</SP> in a rubber or like glazing strip 9 supported over a longitudinal slot in a hollow frame member 1 containing an inflatable tube 5, which, when inflated, exerts a pressure on the base of the strip 9, this latter being provided with a slit 11 between the panes and with grooves or rebates in its sides engaged by the sides of the longitudinal slot in the member 1. The slit 11 is initially wider at the bottom than at the top. The side wall 12 of the frame member is detachable for the insertion of the tube 5. The member 1 has a stop flange 2 for mounting in a window aperture of a vehicle or building.
