Abstract
948,435. Hose end fittings. OIL FEED ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. April 11, 1960 [April 10, 1959], No. 12201/59. Heading F2G. The reinforcement 10 and the inner layer of a flexible hose are trapped between a ferrule 4, 4a and an insert 1 forming part of a re-usable end fitting, the ferrule having an internal helical rib 7 forming at least three corrugations in the reinforcement, and the root diameter of the rib and the corresponding diameter of the ferrule at 6 being equal to the outside diameter of the hose reinforcement when in its free condition. The neck 4a of the ferrule may be integral with the part 4 or, as shown, secured thereto. The hose may be of rubber and the reinforcement of plaited metal or cotton. Relative dimensions are given.
