947,660. Laminates. BAKELITE Ltd. July 9, 1962 [July 13, 1961], No. 25382/61. Heading B5N. A process for producing a decorative laminate comprises reproducing from a photographic colour transparency or print three or more colour separation negatives or positives from which printing plates are made, using the plates to print in complementary colours or paper impregnated with melamine formaldehyde resin, and moulding the printed impregnated paper under heat and pressure in an assembly containing at least a surface layer of paper impregnated with melamine formaldehyde (which layer may be the printed layer itself), and a core of phenol-formaldehyde resin impregnated paper. If the printed layer is an unpigmented paper, a pigmented melamine-formaldehyde resin impregnated paper may be placed immediately below the printed layer in the assembly, or the back face of the printed layer may receive an opaque print.
