Abstract

PURPOSE:To transfer pattern with gloss difference to a thermosetting resin decorative sheet by a method wherein a transfer paper having a pattern layer with gloss difference and a releasing layer is inserted between a hot platen or mirror plate and semi-set thermosetting resin impregnated papers in such a manner that the surface having the pattern of the transfer paper is in contact with the impregnated paper so as to set the resin after the papers are formed under heat and pressure. CONSTITUTION:A transfer paper 4 with gloss difference in marble grain pattern is obtained by coating the whole surface of a pattern layer 2, which is produced on a polyester film base sheet 1 by photogravuring with ink added by extender pigment having the particle diameter of 1-20mum by the etching depth of 45mum, with a releasing layer 3 by the depth of 28mum. In addition, the preferable amount of coating of the releasing layer 3 is one not less than 0.2mum and not more than the thickness of the recessed part of the pattern layer 2. Between an upper and a lower hot platens 12, a cushion 11, a mirror plate 10, the transfer paper 4, the surface having a pattern layer of which faces downward, an overlay paper 5, a pattern paper 6, phenolic core papers 7 a backing paper 8, a releasing sheet 9 and a cushion 11 are laminated from above in the order named so as to be formed under heat and pressure. Finally, by peeling off the transfer paper 4, a melamine resin decorative sheet 13, which has natural marble grain pattern with delicate gloss difference on the surface, is obtained.
