Abstract

1,155,822. Ornamenting. BXL PLASTICS MATERIALS GROUP Ltd. 9 June, 1967 [10 June, 1966], No. 26049/66. Addition to 947,660. Heading B6G. [Also in Division B5] A process for making a decorative laminate comprises (a) reproducing from a photographic colour transparency or print three or more colour separation negatives or positives and making printing plates therefrom, (b) using the plates to print in complementary colours on paper which is not impregnated with a thermosetting resin and (c) laminating the resultant printed paper under heat and pressure either (i) between an overlay and a surface layer of paper impregnated with melamine formaldehyde resin to a support, or (ii) in an assembly which contains at least an overlay of paper impregnated with melamine-formaldehyde resin and a core of phenol-formaldehyde resin impregnated paper. The support may comprise hardboard, chipboard, strandboard, asbestos board or wall board, or, other than when the printed paper is non-absorbent, a veneer.
