Abstract

1,060,875. Printing processes. CINCINNATI MILLING MACHINE CO. Feb. 8, 1965 [Feb. 17, 1964], No. 5458/65. Heading B6C. [Also in Division B5] A decorative article is moulded by locating a release sheet, bearing the required printed design, in a mould, introducing a monomerpolymer mixture into the mould, moulding the mixture under heat and pressure so that the design is transferred into the surface of the moulded article, and finally stripping the release sheet therefrom. The ink for the design is preferably thermosetting and the monomer-polymer mixture may be a solution of methacrylate polymer in methacrylate monomer. Solutions of e.g. polystyrene, polydialkylphthalate, copolymers of styrene and methacrylate and alphabeta saturated polyesters in other monomers such as styrene, dialkylphthalate and methyl styrene may also be used. In one embodiment, a layer of copper foil 12, Fig. 1 (not shown), a layer of resin impregnated glass fibres 16 sandwiched between glass cloth layers 14, 18, and a covering printed release sheet 20, are hot pressed between caul plates 10 to form a laminated printed circuit board, the release sheet subsequently being removed.
