[Also in Divisions F1, F2 and F4] In a system for controlling the fluid pressure in the bearing of a turbine-generator combination in accordance with speed, an A. C. signal is produced as a result of the periodically varying gap between two flats on the generator shaft 70 and the magnetic core of a pick-up 71, the frequency of the voltage being a function of speed. The A. C. is converted into a D. C. voltage in a transducer 72 controlling an electro-pneumatic transducer 73 to which are connected compressed air supply and discharge pipes 74, 75. The bearing throttle valve 64 is adjusted by way of signal line 76.
