A convertible double bed settee comprises a rectangular main frame a having a back rest n, the frame a being provided with two horizontally dispersed resilient mattress bases c, f extending independently over the length and width of a single bed and vertically spaced from one another, at least one of the bases being arranged on the frame a to allow a forward and rearward movement with respect to the frame, the movable base or bases having folding legs g, the arrangement being such that in its closed condition as a settee a mattress l (Fig. 12) placed on the upper mattress base f forms the upholstery for the seat proper whilst a second mattress r forms a loose upholstery for the back n of the settee, a double bed being constituted when one of the movable bases is pulled out from the main frame a the legs g being unfolded and both bases provided with mattresses. The back n may be detachably secured to the main frame. As shown in Fig. 2 the base f may be provided with a pair of wheels h to run on rails b, Fig. 1 (not shown), on the main frame. The wheels h may be provided on fittings j (Fig. 3) which form a link between the base f and the main frame. In a modification the wheels h are replaced by tubular members which run on tubes b (Fig. 4). The lower part of the frame a constitutes a receptacle for storage purposes.
