Abstract
Age-hardenable, non-magnetic, austenitic steels contain .C.0.35 to 0.60% .Mn.8.0 to 12.00% .Si.0 to 1.00% .Cr.6.0 to 10.00% .Ni.4.0 to 8.00% .V.1.1 to 1.80% .S.0 to 0.03% .P.0 to 0.05%, the balance being iron and unavoidable impurities such as normal small amounts of nitrogen. The steel is solution-treated preferably at 2000-2200 DEG F., quenched and then age-hardened at 900-1600 DEG F.
