945,257. Ignition systems. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL, and REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. June 15, 1960 [June 22, 1959], No. 21091/60. Heading F1B. An ignition system comprises in combination means for generating a pulse waveform voltage having a controllable recurrent period and means controlled by the rotation of the engine for tying the recurrent period to the rotation, a delay line 4 and the primary winding 5 of a pulse transformer connected in series, a control device 8 of thyratron control characteristics having controlling means connected to the pulse generator, the device being connected between the input of the line and the output of the primary winding, a rectifier diode bridge connected with the delay line and the primary for clipping the negative pulse of the delay line, a constant D.C. voltage source 1 for energizing the ignition system, and a rectifier diode 3 series connected with an inductance coil 2 between the constant D.C. voltage source and the delay line for preventing the discharge of the delay line in the source, the secondary winding 7 of the pulse transformer being connected to a distributer D as shown the control electrode 9 is connected to one terminal of a circuit breaker 12 through an R C circuit comprising a resistor 13 and a capacitor 11. The contact breaker may be of any conventional type used in motor car ignition systems or of the magnetic type for example comprising a rotary magnet and moving coil or coil assembly such as that disclosed in French Specification 1,183,698. The transformer 6 may be premagnetised by means of a permanent magnet.
