A hand truck comprises a wheeled base 21 carrying an upright 12 on which is pivoted a lever 15 having a handle 19 at one end and a spigot 17 at the other for engaging a socket or gymnastic or other apparatus to raise it for transportation. The lever is preferably in its overcentre position when raised and a lever retaining pin 20 may also be provided.
