Abstract

943,128. Electric fires. H. FROST & CO. Ltd. June 27, 1962 [Aug. 24, 1961], No. 30500/61. Heading H5H. [Also in Divisions E2 and H2] A mounting for supporting the heating element of an electric fire comprises a conductive terminal bracket 1 with a slot 2 for supporting the end of the heating element and a limb 6 extending through a slot in an insulating supporting bush which has a spigot fitting in an aperture 10 in the supporting plate 11, the bush being held resiliently in position by a U-shaped metal spring retaining clip (or clips) 16, which extends in an axial direction through the bush. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4, bush 8 has a spigot 8b over which fits an insulating cap 12 with an axial slot 14 for limb 6, the clip 16 gripping the outsides of bush 8 and cap 12 to clamp them resiliently to supporting plate 11. Cap 12 may be omitted, the bush 8 being shortened so as not to project from plate 11. There is one mounting at each end of the element. Power supply cable 23 is clamped to limb 6 by terminal fitting 22 and clamping plate 21. The spring clips may pass through separate axial slots in the bush parallel to but spaced from the central slot so that they are insulated from the bracket. The retaining clip may not be resilient, the resilience being provided by a separate spring.
