Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of formula: <FORM:0942822/C2/1> in which z is (I) the group -S.A.S.- where A is an alkylene group containing 4 to 10 carbon atoms, a xylylene group which may be substituted by alkyl groups, or an ether group of formula -(CH2CH2O)n-CH2CH2- where n is 1 to 5 or (II) z is the group -NH.B.NH- where B is an alkylene group containing 4 to 10 carbon atoms, a cycloalkylene group or an arylene group. The compounds where z is -S.A.S- are prepared by reacting 2 mols of 2,5-dimercapto- 1,3,4- thiadiazole with 1 mole of an a , o -dihalogenoalkane, a dihalogenoaralkane or an a , o -dihalogenopolyether; compounds where z is -NH.B.NH- are prepared by reacting a 4,41-(1,4-alkylene, cycloalkylene or arylene)- dithiosemicarbazide with carbon disulphide.
