Abstract

The invention comprises amidine salts of the formula <FORM:0737035/IV (b)/1> wherein R1 represents a straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl residue containing at least two carbon atoms, X represents an oxygen atom, a sulphur atom, an -NH- group or a methylene group which can also contain alkyl residues, and R2 represents the anion of p-amino-salicylic acid. Such salts are obtained by reacting amidines, guanidines or alkyliso (thio) ureas with p-amino-salicylic acid in a solvent or in water or by reacting inorganic acid salts of the amidines with salts of p-aminosalicylic acid with bases. Examples describe the preparation of the corresponding p-aminosalicylates by reacting (1) tri-n-butylacetamidine and p-amino-salicylic acid; (2) lauramidine hydrochloride and sodium p-aminosalicylate; (3) dodecylguanidine hydrobromide and sodium p-aminosalicylate; (4) 2,2,2-tributylethylguanidine and p-aminosalicylic acid. In analogous manner there can be produced the p-aminosalicylates of triethylacetamidine, tripropylacetamidine, n-decyl-, n-undecyl-, hexyl-, n-cetyl- and tert.-decyl guanidines, O-isopropyl-, O-n-butyl-, O-n-hexyl-, O-n-octyl-, O-n-decyl-, O-n-undecyl-, O-n-dodecyl- and O-n-cetyl-isoureas and S-n-butyl-, S-n-decyl- and S-n-cetylisothioureas.
