Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0916285/IV (b)/1> where R is an alkyl radical of up to 4 carbon atoms substituted by at least one halogen atom and Hal is halogen; and their production by reacting a perhalomethyl mercaptan Ha13CSHal with an R-substituted amidine in the presence of an acid-binding agent, e.g. an alkali metal hydroxide. The compounds of the invention are fungicides (see Group VI).ALSO:Fungicidal compositions contain as active ingredient a compound <FORM:0916285/VI/1> where R is an alkyl radical of up to 4 carbon atoms substituted by at least one halogen atom and Hal is halogen (see Group IV (b)). The compositions may be solutions, emulsions, suspensions, powders or granulates, and may also contain other fungicides, insecticides, nematocides, herbicides or fertilizers, or agents improving the soil structure. Examples employ talc and sand as carriers.
